With the Encore burr grinder you can grind coffee beans in 2 different ways: 1. By using the on/off switch located on the right side of the grinder and grinding fresh coffee into the included ground coffee container and 2. If you with to grind directly into portafilter handle of your espresso machine, its easy enough to just push the mounted micro switch button located in the front of the coffee grinder.
Baratza Encore grinds espresso shots directly into any espresso machine portafilter handle, including commercial sized (58 mm) handle. For larger amounts of ground coffee such as french press, stove top or large variety of coffee makers, use the large ground coffee bin that contains up to 200 grams of ground fresh coffee - included standard with the Encore.
Maximum flexibility - Encore burr coffee grinder includes 40 Grind setting to choose from (grind range is from 250 to 1200 microns). The numbers for setting are located on the grinder scale. (Setting: 1-14 for espresso, 16-32 for filter or drip coffee and 36-40 for press coffee).
The Baratza Conical burr grinder has German made 40mm conical burrs known for its exceptional consistent grinds from very fine to very coarse.
Innovative calibration in latest edition of the Encore grinder - excellent feature, usually comes only in commercial grinders. An innovative burr calibration system ensures that each grinder has the full range of grind. If necessary, the Encore grinder burrs can be calibrated by the user.
The Encore has low static generation & noise - it uses a combination of gear and electronic speed reducers to slow the spinning of the burrs to low 450 RPM. The new Encore comes with adjustable  electronic speed controller from 405 to 495 RPM. This feature is handy in the event that a user condition may require modification of the speed. Slower consistent speed reduces heat, noise, and static generation while ensuring that the beans feed smoothly into the burrs feeding tunnel.
With generation 2.0 gearbox GB 2.0, Baratza significantly increased the strength and durability of the drive transmission while decreasing noise. The new drive gear is made with partially glass filled thermo plastic which is quieter than metal gears and wears slower.
This feature is great in case of a foreign particle such as small stone or metal screws accidentally enter the burrs feeding tunnel. Before, it could worn the gears and burrs requiring extensive repair. Now, the new system will stop the grinder from working. The automatically reset-able thermal cutout will trigger immediately preventing damage to the gear and burrs.
Both the Encore burrs and the coffee bean hoper are easy to clean & remove. This feature is very unique as it is not as common in other similar coffee grinders.
